Healthier Chichester
Age Concern Chichester & District is a member of the Healthier Chichester Partnership, which supports older people in its rural community. The group meets regularly, encouraging a befriending scheme and Sunday social club, signposting services, keep fit classes for over 60s and gardening projects - activities that combat social isolation and encourage mental stimulation and independence.
The Barchester Healthcare Foundation contributed £1,000 for group members to enjoy quarterly day trips to Dell Quay during 2008.
Pip Holliday, Project worker, commented:
‘The value of these events, for those taking part, can not be underestimated. They provide an important social outlet for people living lonely lives, affording them access to our natural heritage in a carefully planned way which, whilst taking care of their needs, allows for plenty of fun and enjoyment on what we hope will be a memorable day out. On behalf of all those taking part, I would like to thank the Trustees once again for their generous support.'
