Earlier this year we awarded £1,500 to the Carousel Project. Carousel is an award winning learning disability led arts organisation.
Our funding went towards their Carousel TV project, which was their positive response to COVID-19 to keep in close contact with their learning disabled artists and audiences. A media team of young learning disabled artists lead on the development, production and broadcast of a rich and engaging TV show, featuring live performances, interviews, character sketches and news reports.
They will deliver four 30 minute episodes of Carousel TV. The first episode was broadcast in April 2021 with a new episode every two months until October 2021.
They nurture the talents of learning disabled adults and young people through a range of projects in music, radio, performance, film and digital art. Projects include workshops to explore the arts right through to high profile events that showcase people's artwork in a professional setting.
Carousel works to find routes of access and development for learning disabled children and adults supporting them to reach their artistic goals. They have worked hard to build their reputation as an organisation that challenges expectations and delivers high quality work and puts learning disabled people in control of their art.
Their projects are managed, delivered and evaluated by learning disabled artists and 50% of their trustees are learning disabled.
We are really happy to have been able to assist this lovely project.
