Season's greetings

What a challenging year we have all had – but particularly those struggling with disability and mental illness. We very much hope that 2021 will be a brighter year for everyone.

Thank you very much for supporting Barchester’s Charitable Foundation during 2020. We wish you and your families a lovely and relaxing Christmas and a great New Year!

Our Christmas image is our beautiful Christmas card designed/printed by our creative friends at Fluid Design and The Printers. Thank you very much to everyone who has sold/purchased the card at the Barchester care homes and offices.

All your fundraising help change people’s lives. We have awarded over £150,000 in grants this year to older people and adults living with a disability or mental health challenges, and this help is more important now than ever.

We just received lovely feedback from Magpie Dance from Bromley in Kent who we helped fund weekly online dance classes for adults with learning disabilities. New this autumn, they introduced live delivery rather than pre-recorded classes. This meant more participant/teacher interaction; helping to reintroduce social contact, improve communication, and enabling them to take a direct role in shaping the direction and content of each class. Their two weekly open ability adult dance classes have enabled 26 people with learning disabilities to stay fit and active, support their mental health and general wellbeing, and interact with friends and familiar faces online. This term culminated in a whole organisation online ‘Christmas party’, with over 200 participants, friends and family joining in on 13 December via Zoom to share dance videos created by each class over the term, and have a boogie!
