Virtual fused glass workshop produces beautiful flowers

We recently funded a virtual fused glass workshop for members of the Sunflower Family Support Group, a group that offers peer support to those affected by perinatal mental illness in Stafford and Burntwood. The group offers regular activities and speakers that can help promote positive mental well-being and support the parent/baby bond.

Initially they had planned to run face to face workshops but due to covid-19, they were unable to do this. They worked with the tutor for the fused glass to make it work online, and all materials were delivered to each individual’s home. The tutor recorded a “how to” video, and they then hosted a live session for questions and answers. The workshop enabled 20 ladies to participate, and here are some of their comments:

“Excellently organised session. Materials were very kindly dropped off to my house and well prepared for the session. My glass was then very kindly picked up from my house to be fired. The zoom meeting was a great chance to ask any questions and was lovely to see people’s faces again after such a long time! I would love to do this again!!”

“What a lovely way to spend a Friday evening, same time next week?? Thank you. So lovely to see everyone’s faces.”

 “Absolutely loved doing this.”

“It was nice to have something to look forward to make, very well put together class and it was very Covid safe.”

This was the perfect “pick me up” for their ladies due to not being able to run face to face groups at present.
