Barchester Healthcare’s Recruitment Director, Tony Woollett, is challenging himself to a bike ride with a difference during lockdown, to raise money for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation.
With his exercise bike set up and ready to ride in his kitchen, Tony plans to cycle the distance from Barchester’s most northerly care home, Pentland View in Thurso, Scotland to the most southerly mainland care home, Kenwyn in Cornwall. The total distance is 800 miles (1,287km), with the first leg of the ride starting on Monday 20th April and continuing daily until the distance is complete.
Tony said of his challenge, “I’m very glad to be able to do my bit to raise further awareness and money for such an important cause, especially during these unprecedented times. Whilst I’m not sure how long it will take me, I do know it will hurt!”
Barchester’s Charitable Foundation supports older people and adults with disabilities within the community to help reduce isolation and loneliness and to promote independence.
Tony is hoping to raise as much money as possible for the Foundation, adding “I will be extremely grateful to anyone who is able to donate, it doesn’t matter how little or how much, it all counts.”
