Jubilant Barchester runners at the Great North Run

/ September 2025
Runners with their medals

The Great North Run was a celebration of ordinary people doing extraordinary things, as a record 60,000 runners took part in the 44th edition of the world-famous half marathon.

Our runners did brilliantly, with Tom finishing in a great time of 2h03m, closely followed by Zsuzsanna in 2h07m.

This year's runners now have the very unique 2025 medal that features a mislabelled map of Sunderland and the River Wear, an error by the organisers, which caught the headlines this week.

Zsuzsanna Bodog commented: “It was a very good atmosphere. Big party, and the airplanes were awesome.”

The runners have also been very busy fundraising and have already raised around £2,500 to help older people and adults living a disability connect with others in their local community. There is still time to support the runners, and a huge thank you if you already have:
