Earlier this year we awarded funding to Redberth Croft CIC for their market garden project. They are based in Tenby and are dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for older adults and individuals living with disabilities, particularly those with additional learning needs over the age of 25.
They were committed to launching The Market Garden Initiative in Spring 2025. This project marked a significant milestone for their organisation, as it is the first funded initiative led entirely by a volunteer with lived experience of mental health challenges.
Their project offers opportunities for individuals, particularly those from disadvantaged or marginalised backgrounds, to access business training, mentoring, and guided pathways to micro-enterprise development. The market garden is the pilot for this approach.
Their team made a concerted effort to upskill and gain valuable insights from established gardens. Visits to successful sites, such as Cilrath Acre and Clynfyw Care Farm, have provided their team with inspiration, tips, and best practices to evolve their vision for the garden.
