Marathons 2022 done and dusted
We are very proud of our amazing Barchester Marathon runners. Gary Washbrook ran the iconic London Marathon and Suzi Gibson & Phillis Dzowa completed the Virtual London Marathon on Sunday 2nd October.
Around 40,000 participants tackled the traditional 26.2 miles course from Greenwich to Westminster. Another 50,000 across the globe joined the party by completing their marathon challenge virtually during a 24-hour window – making the 42nd London Marathon a truly memorable occasion.

We are delighted to introduce our 2022 London Marathon runner, Gary Washbrook. Gary is Head of Maintenance at Barchester’s Wimborne Care Home in Hayling Island and can normally be found keeping everything in good working order at the home. However, on Sunday October 2nd, Gary will be putting down his power tools and donning his trainers to run 26.2 miles around the streets of London in order to raise funds for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation. Gary is taking part in the iconic London Marathon, his first ever in-person marathon.

Huge congratulations to our amazing runners Iona Beckett and Ben Bownass who completed the ASICS London 10k on Sunday 10th July.
Over 7,000 people took to the streets of London to take part in the ASICS London 10k. Roads across central London were closed and Westminster was transformed into a moving street party of thousands of people running, cheering and laughing.
With temperatures soaring it was far from PB conditions, although our runners finished together in a very impressive 48 minutes.

For the 6th time we have runners taking part in the iconic London 10k Run on Sunday 10th July. Thousands of runners will wind their way through Central London together. As well as seeing some of London's top landmarks, they will also run past the True Geographical Centre of London, down closed Regent Street, the Strand and Embankment, and get the best view across the river of the London Eye.
