Wildlife photography for charity

/ August 2025
Blue bird in the wild

Reji Joseph normally works as the Home Administrator at Middletown Grange, but this August/September he is stepping out of his comfort zone to stage a photographic exhibition of 125 original images which will be on sale in order to raise funds for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation.  Please come along to Middletown Grange from August 27th to September 7th to view the stunning photographs, meet Reji and potentially make a purchase, all in aid of Barchester's Charitable Foundation.

A passionate wildlife photographer, and no stranger to a charity challenge, Reji has always had a keen eye for a beautiful image but this is the first time he has held an exhibition or put his work up for sale.

Reji was born and raised in Ottacamund, a small hill station in Tamil Nadu, South India, nestled in the Nilgiris mountain range. Growing up surrounded by nature, he developed a deep passion for the outdoors from a very young age and his love of photography followed soon after.  Living in such a scenic area, he naturally started by capturing landscapes, before moving on to wildlife photography.

Now some of his favourite photography spots include Slimbridge for birds, Skomer Island where he has captured puffins, and Bempton Cliffs, where he was once lucky enough to photograph a black-browed albatross. He also continues to photograph wildlife during visits back to India.

Reji comments: “This August and September, we are planning a wildlife photography exhibition and sale at Middletown Grange, with all profits going to Barchester’s Charitable Foundation.  I would be thrilled if my photography could help raise funds for a cause I deeply care about and for the organisation I proudly work with.  To me, nature is one of the most beautiful gifts we have and capturing it through a lens is my way of appreciating and sharing it.

General Manager at Middletown Grange, Mirela Ghiuvea adds: “We are all so proud of Reji, we know how caring he is and how much he wants to help others through his talent.  It is a wonderful thing he is doing to raise funds to help vulnerable people combat loneliness and connect with their local communities, everyone at the home is fully behind him.  After the photographs have been on display at our home, we’re going to tour them around our other sister Barchester homes in the area so that as many people as possible get to appreciate their beauty.”
