We awarded funding to Tyler to help fund the purchase of a manual active wheelchair, front track wheel, and front power attachment. Tyler is a 23 year old who has Autism Spectrum Disorder, depression and ME/CFS alongside having a sleep disorder and gastrointestinal problems that are part of his ME/CFS.

In the summer this year we awarded funding to a woman who has been suffering from Multiple Sclerosis since 2007. Helen previously worked full time as a nurse, then reduced her hours to 15 hours per week, and now in the process of applying for medical retirement. Helen has faced a lot of change in the last two years, affecting her physically and mentally, as she is no longer able to do things as independently as before. Helen has young children and was unable to take them out and about due to her worsening mobility.

At the beginning of this year we awarded a funding contribution to a lady called Chantelle who has a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy. Our grant was used towards the cost of a foldable mobility scooter to help her to improve her independence.

Earlier this year we awarded funding to Kimberley from Hertfordshire for a mobility scooter. 

Kimberley is in permanent severe pain with her back. She was diagnosed with a worn disc in her lower spine, resulting in two vertebrae grinding against each other when she moves. She uses a crutch to mobilise, but is visibly in pain when moving.

We recently awarded funding to Charlotte (she likes to be known as Lottie) who suffers from Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Our funding contribution was used to invest in an ultra-lightweight made-to-measure RGK Elite rugby league/basketball wheelchair. Lottie really struggled with the wide heavy basic chairs owned by the rugby team, and was using one that was too high off the floor to enable her to play basketball.

Back in May this year we awarded funding for the purchase of a one-year fishing membership at a local fishing pond for a young man called Scott. 

In October 2021 Scott had a stroke at the age of 37. He now has expressive dysphasia and hypersensitivity to noise. He has mild hemiplegia on his right side, but is making good progress in his recovery. His mental health has been affected due to the life changing stroke, which he is struggling to come to terms with.

Earlier this year we awarded a funding contribution to a lovely lady called Simmie. This was to enable her to enjoy a canal boat holiday. Simmie has a diagnosis of Alström Syndrome, a very rare recessively inherited genetic condition.  There are a range of complications and medical conditions caused by this syndrome. She is registered severely sight impaired and only has light perception due to retinal degeneration.

Henry suffers from Duchene Muscular Dystrophy, and in February this year we awarded him a funding contribution to help him purchase an electric wheelchair called a Quickie 700M. It has a seat made to support him and provide comfort, thereby preventing sores which can cause Henry some discomfort. The chair itself can be put in different positions and also different heights, which is an advantage in everyday life, improving movement and accessibility to various things in the home or on the move.

In August 2021 we awarded funding to a young disabled woman for a beach walker. Jessica received significant burns and life changing injuries as an infant as the result of a household fire, and she is a double amputee above the knee with partial amputation to all fingers. Jessica uses a combination of prosthetic legs, wheelchairs and standing walkers to access the community.

Jessica is a mother of five children, with the youngest children being just one and three years old. She is a very outgoing person despite her disabilities and likes to participate in community events.
